This DoD four-module course will focus on grant opportunities in research and development, science and technology, and healthcare. For those wishing funding opportunities alternative or in addition to NSF and NIH, this course is highly recommended. Nevertheless, the content is geared for all investigators who wish to understand how to be competitive and procure research funding that makes the match between their interests and the DoD targeted needs.

The emphasis of this course will be on how best to align your proposal with the review criteria. Federal proposal review guidelines for various agencies will be examined. The foundation review process will also be explained via a combination of resources.

The emphasis of this course will be on demonstrating success via the short- mid- and long-term outcomes of the proposal as identified and measured by evaluation instruments that are specific to each of the proposal objectives. The Logic Model will be introduced as one way of understanding how to develop outcomes. In addition, you will learn how to parallel the budget to each of the activities and outcomes.

The focus of this course will be on developing the plan of operation of the grant, which includes all the components required to execute the proposal, including the goal, objectives, activities, and the credibility of your institution and personnel. The areas to be covered for the plan of operation of research grants will be on writing achievable hypotheses, objectives/specific aims, methodology, and the credibility of your institution and personnel.

During this course you will understand the grant writing model. The focus will be on the Abstract, Summary Page and/or the Specific Aims Page, and how to write winning and compelling need statements.

During this course you will comprehend how to develop and plan your request, create a strategic planning cycle for ongoing grant procurement, build relationships with donors, write effective letters of inquiry, and create powerful background statements.

During this course you will understand the proactive grant seeking model, find key private and public donors for your funding needs, and make the appropriate match between you and the funder. Key federal search engines will be explored at length and the best resources to locate foundation and corporate grants will be explained.
