Writing/Designing NIH Proposals

Live NIH Online Workshop
Mar 17, 2026
10:30a - 6:00p (Eastern Time)
$395.00

Our intensive one-day workshop equips researchers with the knowledge and skills to develop competitive NIH proposals under the 2025 NIH guidelines. We'll explore what these updated requirements mean for investigators, including changes to formatting, page limits, data management and sharing plans, and new emphasis areas in NIH's strategic priorities. The workshop will also address responsible AI use in NIH research, covering appropriate applications, disclosure requirements, and compliance with NIH policies on AI-generated content.

What You'll Gain

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Understand how the 2025 guideline changes affect your proposal strategy and execution
  • Navigate NIH funding mechanisms and identify the right program for your research
  • Master the critical sections that distinguish funded proposals from unsuccessful ones
  • Demonstrate the excellence and innovation that sets your application apart
  • Recognize how different study sections evaluate proposals and adapt your approach accordingly

Core Training Components Aligned with 2025 Guidelines

Our curriculum addresses NIH's current strategic framework for proposal development, including:

  • Budget Development: creating realistic, well-justified budgets that comply with current NIH requirements
  • Data Management and Sharing Plans: meeting 2025 policy requirements
  • Responsible AI Integration: understanding when and how to disclose AI use in research and proposal development

Through interactive exercises, lectures, and guided discussions, our experienced instructors will help you research, write, and refine competitive grant proposals.

Who Should Attend

  • Early-career investigators seeking to master NIH proposal development and understand how 2025 changes affect new applicants
  • Experienced researchers and grant writers looking to update their skills and stay current with evolving NIH funding trends and requirements

Preparing for the Workshop

Begin thinking of the research you want to conduct. Doing so will help you better grasp the various proposal components presented during the course. Consider potential study sections that would be appropriate for your research, and how you would answer the following questions:

  1. What is the need of your project?
  2. What is the significance of your project?
  3. How will you budget your proposal?
  4. What is the time frame of the grant you are seeking?
  5. What is your hypothesis?
  6. What are the Specific Aims (2-3)?

Submit Specific Aims from your work, if possible. The more examples the Instructor receives, the better chances that he or she will select an example that may be relevant to your research.
